Description
The Daniel Schnakenberg Foundation supports non-profit organizations in the state of Bremen that offer recreational and holiday programs for low-income families, children, and youth. The goal is to enable Bremen families with limited financial resources to participate in leisure activities and thereby strengthen social inclusion. Funding is provided for both multi-day family recreation as well as children’s and youth trips in the thematic areas of children and youth, social affairs, and work & social services. The foundation grants a subsidy of up to 25% of eligible expenses – including costs per participant and staff expenses. Only non-profit recognized institutions based in Bremen that carry out corresponding recreational measures are eligible to apply.
Applications can be submitted continuously and differentiate between flat-rate applications for measures under ten days and individual funding for ten days or more. For the flat-rate application, an informal application on official letterhead including a preliminary cost and financing plan is sufficient. For longer projects, the form “Notification of the Implementation of a Recreational Holiday” must first be completed; subsequently, participant registrations and proof of income documents are submitted. Finally, a factual final report, a revised cost and financing plan, as well as the list of participants must be provided. This transparent structure ensures the foundation a prompt approval within a few weeks and guarantees payment two weeks before the start of the measure.
