Description
The funding supports private non-profit institutions throughout Austria in the further development and operation of the Topothek, a freely accessible, municipality-organized online collection for regional and state history. The goal is to raise awareness of historical documents and motivate the public to secure local treasures for the long term. Complementing this, the Institute for the History of Rural Areas (IGLR) is supported in its research projects on work, life, and migration processes in rural areas. By combining virtually accessible archives with scientific expertise, a sustainable platform is created for the exploration, protection, and communication of regional historical sources.
Private non-profit organizations such as municipal Topotheks and research institutions that already have existing contracts with ICARUS or a corresponding institute are eligible for funding. Applicants must be entities that operate digital collections or conduct historical research projects and can document personnel and project costs. The maximum funding amount is up to €180,000 per project. Applications can be submitted continuously until the total budget is exhausted. This ongoing funding opportunity equally strengthens sustainable infrastructure measures and innovative research approaches to keep cultural heritage alive and further advance scientific knowledge of rural areas.
