With the granting of earmarked subsidies from the Hospice and Palliative Care Fund, the federal government supports the states in implementing a nationwide, needs-based, and uniformly organized hospice and palliative care service. The goal is to make tailored support services accessible and affordable for palliative patients and their relatives and to complement basic care through mobile palliative teams or inpatient hospices.

Description
The earmarked grant to support hospice and palliative care promotes the planning, expansion, and further development of inpatient hospices as well as mobile palliative teams throughout Austria. With financial resources from the Hospice and Palliative Fund, the federal government contributes to creating a comprehensive, uniformly organized care offering that meets the special needs of palliative patients and their relatives. The goal is to complement basic care in the home environment through professional support and to make access to palliative care services affordable. Funding can be continuously applied for from 01.01.2022 until the budget is exhausted.
Eligible for funding are public institutions and non-profit organizations that establish or further develop hospice and palliative care services in accordance with the Hospice and Palliative Fund Act (HosPalFG) as well as the agreements between the federal government, social insurance, and the federal states. Prerequisites include compliance with the quality criteria defined in the HosPalFG (planning, financing, documentation), a subsidy application including a detailed financing plan, and a final proof of use. Inpatient facilities additionally require approval according to the Carinthian Home Act (LGBl. No. 7/1996 as amended). Clear guidelines and a transparent application process ensure that every grant is purposefully invested in the expansion of palliative care, thereby sustainably improving the quality of life of severely ill people and their relatives.
