The Department of Economy and Research is one of the five departments of the Directorate for Regional Planning, Economic and Rural Development within the Office of the Upper Austrian State Government. Under the leadership of Mag. Markus Roider, MBA, it is responsible for matters in the areas of trade, price determination and price monitoring, as well as economy and research. Serving as an interface between politics, administration, and business, it supports companies through consultation, coordinates funding and research initiatives, thereby contributing to the sustainable strengthening of Upper Austria as a business location.

The Department of Economy and Research is committed to promoting the competitiveness of Upper Austrian companies and increasing regional value creation. Through transparent price monitoring, targeted support of trade, as well as the guidance and networking of research projects, we make a significant contribution to sustainable and innovative economic and regional development.

The target group of the department primarily consists of Upper Austrian companies – especially small and medium-sized enterprises – as well as research institutions and other actors in the economic and innovation landscape. They turn to the department to address questions regarding trade law matters, price monitoring, funding opportunities, or the initiation and support of research and development projects.
