The Amt der Oö. Landesregierung, Direktion Kultur und Gesellschaft, Abteilung Kultur is the central administrative office of the State of Upper Austria for cultural affairs. It is responsible for cultural policy and funding, develops statewide programs and support services for artistic creation and cultural activities. The focus is on promoting art and cultural projects, preserving cultural traditions, as well as initiating innovation and diversity in the cultural sector.

The Directorate of Culture and Society is committed to strengthening art and culture in Upper Austria as a driver of social dynamism. Quality, diversity, innovation, and tradition form the pillars of the cultural mission statement. The goal is to provide artistic impulses, enable cultural participation, and enrich the cultural living environment for all people in the state of Upper Austria.

The Department of Culture directs its funding programs to artists, cultural practitioners, associations, cultural institutions, and project groups that are based in Upper Austria or have a strong presence there. Funding is provided to individuals as well as initiatives and institutions that contribute to cultural diversity, sustainability, and regional identity through their programs and projects.
