About the funder
The Federal Ministry of the Interior (BMI) is the guardian of the constitution and the architect of domestic policy in Germany. It promotes social cohesion, integration, sports, IT security, as well as civil and disaster protection, and simultaneously acts as a driver of modernization for the state and administration. Its core responsibilities also include upholding the liberal democratic basic order, electoral law, political education, and supporting volunteer work. To fulfill these diverse tasks, the BMI employs around 2,000 staff members at its offices in Berlin and Bonn.

Mission & Vision
Our mission is to ensure internal security and the reliability of state structures, promote social cohesion, and protect the liberal democratic basic order. We are committed to modern administrative action, support integration, sports, and voluntary engagement, and strive for effective crisis and disaster preparedness. In doing so, we place great importance on transparency, citizen proximity, and cooperative collaboration with public authorities, associations, and civil society actors.
Target groups
The funding programs of the Federal Ministry of the Interior (BMI) are aimed at organizations and institutions that contribute to strengthening internal security, social cohesion, and democratic culture. This includes, in particular, national sports federations, municipalities and local authorities, public and non-public agencies, research and educational institutions, as well as non-profit associations and organizations that implement projects in the areas of security, integration, sports promotion, civil protection, and administrative modernization.
