Mission & Vision

The purpose of our charitable foundation is to support services for the blind and to assist individual blind and visually impaired persons. Provided the foundation’s resources allow, it also promotes science and research in the field of ophthalmology. It pursues directly and exclusively charitable and benevolent purposes within the meaning of the German Tax Code (§§ 51 et seq. AO), acts selflessly, and does not aim for any commercial purposes. The circle of beneficiaries as well as the type and amount of grants are determined by the board at its due discretion.

Target groups

The Paul and Charlotte Kniese Foundation directs its individual funding towards blind and visually impaired individuals in Germany, whose need must be demonstrated by proof. Furthermore, it supports non-profit institutions, facilities, and projects nationwide that are dedicated to the promotion, care, education, and rehabilitation of blind and visually impaired people. Funded projects include, among others, the provision of assistive devices, mobility and education training, cultural and musical offerings, as well as infrastructural new constructions and modernizations.
