About the funder

The Sportstiftung NRW is a non-profit state foundation of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia dedicated to the targeted promotion of youth elite sports. Since its establishment in 2000, it has developed into the largest state foundation of its kind in Germany. Each year, it supports around 700 talents from over 95 sports with individual scholarships and promotes sports boarding schools as well as the Paralympic Center. To date, more than €80 million have been invested in youth development.

Mission & Vision

The Sportstiftung NRW aims to comprehensively support young sports talents from Olympic, Paralympic, Deaflympic, and World Games disciplines in North Rhine-Westphalia. Alongside sporting excellence, personal development, character, and inspirational power are central. The foundation supports athletes on their path to becoming exemplary individuals who inspire others through performance and passion and strengthen social cohesion.

Target groups

Outstanding young athletes with residence, training, or competition location in North Rhine-Westphalia, who are appointed to the squad levels Nachwuchskader 1 (NK 1), Nachwuchskader 2 (NK 2), or Landeskader Plus (LK+), are supported. In addition, the Sportstiftung NRW supports full-time sports boarding schools and the Paralympic Center to optimally accompany talents in their dual career in sports and education.
