About the funder

The Foundation for the Promotion of Philately and Postal History is a legally recognized foundation under civil law based in Bonn. It was established on June 3, 1966, at the initiative of the Federal Ministry for Post and Telecommunications and pursues exclusively charitable purposes. It is primarily financed through surcharge proceeds from special stamps, donations, and contributions from third parties. Since its founding, approximately €30 million have been allocated to support exhibitions, specialist literature, research, counterfeit prevention, public relations, and seminars. A key focus is the acquisition, maintenance, and free lending of exhibition frames for stamp exhibitions in Germany and other European countries.

Mission & Vision

The foundation is committed to the sustainable promotion of philatelic and postal history endeavors. Its goal is to preserve the cultural heritage of philately, strengthen research exchange, support young collectors, and provide a comprehensive infrastructure for exhibitions and public relations.

Target groups

Individuals, associations, and institutions in the field of philately and postal history are supported, including the Federation of German Philatelists (Bund Deutscher Philatelisten e. V.), the German Philatelic Youth (Deutsche Philatelisten-Jugend e. V.), philatelic libraries, museums, as well as research and educational projects. A special focus is placed on supporting young philatelists and strengthening international contacts.
