Description
The state of Schleswig-Holstein supports innovative aquaculture projects that combine economic and ecological sustainability with funds from the European Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund (EMFAF 2021–2027). Funding is provided for investment measures to increase production capacity, optimize quality and animal welfare, as well as to enhance resource efficiency and climate adaptation. Support also includes research projects, pilot initiatives, and the expansion of direct marketing of own products. Applications can be submitted at any time by companies, public institutions, and educational establishments in Schleswig-Holstein to stabilize the development of existing enterprises or to enable the establishment of new aquaculture businesses.
Funding requirements include securing permanent social insurance-obligatory jobs, the economic viability of the project, and compliance with the binding period (five years or twelve years for structural facilities). Eligible expenses range from productive investments and consulting services to measures improving working conditions, animal health, and environmental resilience, as well as conversion to organic production methods. The requested funding amount ranges between €10,000 and €6 million. A secured financing plan and compatibility with the German EMFAF program are mandatory to achieve successful approval.
