Description

The Alexander Otto Sports Foundation supports non-profit sports clubs, associations, and schools in the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg through its program "Project Funding (Funding Projects)." The aim is to support projects that promote the Olympic spirit and specifically inspire socially disadvantaged individuals, youth, and people with disabilities for the Olympic and Paralympic Games. Funding is provided, among other things, for the acquisition of sports equipment, investments in sports infrastructure, the design of schoolyards, rental fees for hall times, coaches’ fees, as well as training camps and sports trips. Grants of up to €20,000 per project are possible; applicants are required to contribute their own commitment.

Eligible for funding are non-profit organizations or schools based in Hamburg whose projects would not be feasible without external funding and that sustainably anchor the Olympic spirit. Applications can be submitted continuously, and approved funds can be drawn until November 30, 2026. For evaluation, a completed project funding application, a brief description of the institution, a detailed project description, and a cost and financing plan are required. Upon project completion, a usage report with a factual report and photo/video documentation must be submitted. Selection is made by the Foundation’s board based on suitability and the date of application receipt. Through this continuously open funding option, the Alexander Otto Sports Foundation offers a reliable framework to realize innovative, inclusive, and sports-educationally valuable initiatives in Hamburg.
