Department 4 of the Carinthian State Government is responsible for family support, child protection, child and youth welfare, as well as equal opportunities for all children and young people in Carinthia. Among other tasks, it operates the Competence Center for Quality Development in Carinthian Child Protection, coordinates social inspection and the Internal Control System (ICS) in child and youth welfare, and supports parents, professionals, and institutions through counseling, networking, and training programs. The goal is comprehensive, preventive, and needs-based support for families and children.

Child protection concerns us all! We bear the responsibility to enable children and adolescents to grow up free from violence and work in partnership with parents and all professional groups. Through coordinated quality development and training, we ensure optimal conditions so that families can accept help at an early stage and severe forms of violence, abuse, or neglect can be prevented.

Department 4 is aimed at children and adolescents in all life situations, parents, legal guardians, and families facing challenging circumstances, professionals and institutions from fields such as early childhood education, schools, healthcare, police, and psychosocial services, as well as municipalities and district administrative authorities that implement child and youth welfare services. All of them receive individual counseling, networking meetings, and training opportunities to strengthen child protection and equal opportunities in Carinthia.
