The Department 14 Water Management, Resources and Sustainability within the Office of the Styrian Provincial Government is responsible for professional consulting, planning, and funding administration in the field of water management in Styria. It prepares the Styrian Water Management Plan, coordinates funding and training programs in the areas of drinking water supply, wastewater disposal, aquatic ecology, flood protection, landscape water engineering, and supports municipalities, water cooperatives, and other stakeholders with expert information, form kits, and professional events. Through its services, it promotes the sustainable use and protection of water resources, taking into account ecological, technical, and legal frameworks.

Our mission is to preserve, protect, and sustainably utilize the water resources of Styria. We support projects and measures aimed at improving drinking water supply, wastewater disposal, water body protection, and flood prevention through expert advice, efficient planning, and targeted financial support – for the benefit of the population and in harmony with environmental and climate protection goals.

The services and funding programs of Department 14 are aimed at municipalities and municipal institutions, water cooperatives and water communities, individual agricultural enterprises, drinking water suppliers and wastewater operators, as well as natural and legal persons with water management projects. They benefit from funding opportunities, technical training, consulting, and the provision of specialized information for the planning and implementation of water management measures.
