About the funder

The Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection (BMUKN) is the supreme federal authority of the Federal Republic of Germany responsible for all matters related to environmental and climate protection, biodiversity conservation, radiation protection, and nuclear safety. It develops key political frameworks and funding guidelines, including the electric vehicle promotion program with a budget of three billion euros (2026–2029), the Environmental Innovation Program for large-scale demonstration projects, and the Natural Climate Protection Action Program. The BMUKN supports municipalities and companies in implementing sustainable projects, manages over 5.6 billion euros annually, and offers extensive citizen services as well as press and information services.
