The Department of Early Childhood Education and General Education in the State of Tyrol is part of the Tyrolean state administration and is responsible for the planning, management, and promotion of early childhood education services (day nurseries, kindergartens, after-school care) as well as the coordination of overarching educational matters in the early childhood and school sectors. It develops framework guidelines for quality, personnel development, and physical infrastructure, supports providers and municipalities with approvals and operations, allocates funding, and ensures a barrier-free, inclusive, and needs-based educational landscape in Tyrol.

Our mission is to guarantee all children in Tyrol the best possible early childhood education and care that strengthens their individual development and ensures equal opportunities. We promote cross-sector collaboration between providers, municipalities, and professionals, rely on professional support for educators, and design educational offerings that are both child-centered and sustainable.

The department is aimed at operators and sponsors of nurseries, kindergartens, after-school care centers, and other early childhood education institutions in Tyrol, as well as at municipalities, education experts, parent representatives, and professionals. It supports public and private institutions in planning, financing, quality development, and legal matters, and promotes innovative educational projects to strengthen early childhood education throughout all regions of the state.
