About the funder

The housing promotion offices in Hesse are the municipal and district contact points for applying for funding in residential construction, modernization, and the creation of affordable rental housing. In cities with more than 50,000 inhabitants, the magistrate is responsible; otherwise, the district committee of the respective district is in charge. The funding guidelines of the state of Hesse are implemented in cooperation with the Economic and Infrastructure Bank of Hesse (WIBank). The housing promotion offices review applications for social rental housing subsidies, new construction and modernization loans, as well as grants for barrier-free renovations, and forward the applications to WIBank upon positive evaluation.

Mission & Vision

Our goal is to ensure the creation and preservation of affordable, socially bound housing for low- and middle-income households throughout Hesse. Through close cooperation between municipalities, districts, and the WIBank, we promote sustainable urban and regional development as well as barrier-free housing. We see ourselves as a competent and unbureaucratic service center for builders and provide reliable advice throughout the entire funding process.

Target groups

The funding programs are aimed at natural and legal persons who wish to newly construct, modernize, or convert housing to be barrier-free – both for personal use and for permanent rental to third parties. Eligible applicants include private builders, municipal authorities, cooperatives, and non-profit housing companies. In particular, households with low to moderate incomes benefit from low-interest loans and grants to create or maintain permanently affordable housing.
