The Department of Economy and Research within the Directorate for Regional Planning, Economic and Rural Development is one of five departments of the Office of the Upper Austrian Provincial Government. It is responsible for the planning, coordination, and implementation of the economic and research strategy “#upperVISION2030” and manages a variety of funding programs (e.g., R&D Impulse TEAM, Business and Research Cooperation Funding, Business Innovation Funding). The goal is to strengthen the competitiveness of Upper Austrian companies and research institutions, to network innovation clusters, and to create sustainable jobs in the economy and research.

Our mission is to strengthen Upper Austria as a business and research location through targeted funding and advisory services. We promote cooperation between SMEs and research institutions, advance key technologies, and thus contribute to the future-oriented development of rural and urban areas. Sustainability, digitalization, and regional value creation are at the core of our activities.

Funding is provided to companies headquartered or primarily located in Upper Austria, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that are cooperating with R&D institutions for the first time or again, as well as research institutions and networks. The programs target economic actors participating in projects within the action fields of #upperVISION2030, such as Digital Transformation, Connected Mobility, Medical Technologies, and Sustainable Production.
