About the funder

The Directorate for Environment and Water Management of the Office of the Upper Austrian State Government is the central competence center for environmental and water protection in Upper Austria. Involving highly qualified experts, it conducts procedures for environmental impact assessments, facility approvals, as well as measures in soil, air, and water protection. As a service provider for citizens, municipalities, companies, and organizations, the Directorate offers monitoring and laboratory services in the field of environmental surveillance, develops practical funding programs for energy and climate protection, and ensures a sustainable supply and disposal infrastructure in Upper Austria.

Mission & Vision

Under the guiding principle "Sustainability and precaution instead of remediation," the Directorate for Environment and Water Management contributes through expert advice, approval, monitoring, and funding to the long-term protection of vital resources such as soil, air, and water in Upper Austria, and to the promotion of climate-friendly technologies.

Target groups

The services of the Directorate of Environment and Water Management are aimed at all natural and legal persons in Upper Austria, in particular private individuals, commercial enterprises, associations, religious institutions, municipalities, and other organizations seeking advisory, approval, monitoring, or funding services in the environmental and water sectors.
