About the funder
Department 6 Education and Society is a specialized department of the Office of the Styrian Provincial Government and is responsible for central educational and social matters in Styria. It provides pedagogical professional support to over 1,000 childcare facilities (kindergartens, nurseries, after-school care centers, etc.) and annually allocates funding exceeding 130 million euros for this purpose. Furthermore, it is responsible for the administration and oversight of teacher staffing plans as well as selected service law matters concerning compulsory schools. In the area of music schools, it manages the financial support for music school training and continuing education measures as well as youth music competitions. Additionally, its range of tasks includes topics such as youth, family, generations, and women, which are handled in specialized departments.

Target groups
The funding programs of Department 6 are aimed at organizations, institutions, and initiatives in the field of early childhood education and care (e.g., non-profit operators of kindergartens and nurseries), compulsory schools and music schools in Styria, as well as associations, institutions, and individuals implementing youth-related projects, family and intergenerational initiatives, or measures related to women and gender equality. The goal is to implement the strategic directives of the state government in the education and social sectors and to expand services tailored to the needs of all age groups.
